ABOUT

WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

There are many wonderful attributes in the Blue Ridge, and Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina.

This is a highly desirable area for

year round or seasonal living.

Many folks choose this area for their retirement years.

Often they build a home or cabin to be used in the interim years as a vacation home.

You'll find self-employed people who often work from home.

In the rural areas such as Hot Springs,

some may commute to Asheville.

For those wanting to completely retreat from the

city life...

there are places without footprints that could be the perfect spot for your

secluded home/cabin or getaway vacation spot.

Known for many outdoor activities western North Carolina also offers many diverse cultural events year round.

The Asheville area is also a premier spot for

breweries, locally designed art and crafts,

and

on the cutting edge with

"go green" trends.

Hot Springs...

it may not be "Mayberry",

but imagine a place with locally owned Gentry hardware store, restaurants, and shops.

Children ride their bikes on the sidewalk,

people engage each other in friendly conversation.

Avid outdoors people enjoy water activities such as white water rafting, kayaking, and fishing.

Hikers enjoy many trails including the renowned Appalachian Trail, and other local trails.

Hot Springs is the only town in North Carolina where the Appalachian Trail passes through the town.

Biking, motorcycling, camping, and sightseeing

are also popular activities.

In 2012 Hot Springs was voted by readers of

Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine as the

"Best Small Mountain Town".
